Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate. or equivalent experience. Work setting: Construction. Various locations. Renovation. Commercial. Industrial. Residential. Work in employer's/client's home. Tasks: Measure, cut, shape, assemble and join materials made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel and other materials. Remove existing floor coverings and contaminants. Prepare floors for installations. Prepare and install hardwood floors. Measure, cut and fasten underlay and underpadding. Measure, cut and install resilient floor coverings. Conduct moisture, ph, temperature and other tests prior to flooring installations. Inspect and repair damaged floor coverings. Inspect, measure and mark surfaces to be covered. Installation specialization: Vinyl or resilient sheets. Vinyl or resilient tiles. Rubber sheet goods. Parquet flooring. Flash covings. Cork flooring. Borders or feature strips. Hardwood intricate patterns flooring. Hardwood strip flooring. Security and safety: Driver's validity licence check. Transportation/travel information: Valid driver's licence. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Bending, crouching, kneeling. Handling heavy loads. Physically demanding. Work with minimal supervision. Hand-eye co-ordination. Ability to distinguish between colours. Own tools/equipment: Steel-toed safety boots. Personal suitability: Accurate. Client focus.
