Description of Assignment <p>1.0 FTE Ulkatcho Language and Culture. Full time temporary until the return of the incumbent. The FTE of this assignment may reduce to accommodate the incumbent. This specific positing will not extend beyond June 30th, 2024.<p>Special Qualifications Required Preference will be given to applicants with a Professional Teaching Certificate. Applicants who hold (or are eligible to hold) a Language Certificate may also be considered.<p> Oral and written fluency in local First Nations Language<p> Be current with traditional activities and culture<p> Have successful experience working in a classroom<p> Be able to produce, use lesson plans and overviews and organize resources for class<p> Be able to assess, evaluate and give feedback to students and parents on their work; this will include report cards<p> Expected to work with a school team to further students' educational goals<p> Expected to continue learning by attending language/culture courses and workshops and other professional development activitiesSalary <p>The salary of this assignment is based on our current salary grid. The current salary is set to $57, 972.00 per annum, paid over 10 months.<p>Local Area Information and Application Details <p>School District No. 27 operates in the Cariboo-Chilcotin of BC. Residents enjoy 4 distinct seasons with plentiful outdoor activities. Anahim Lake School is housed in Anahim Lake, BC and the traditional territory of the Ulkatcho Nation. Anahim Lake School is a 4.5 day per week, extended day school.<p>This remote opportunity is an ideal opportunity for the applicant who: Has an interest in remote teaching<p> Has the ability to teach a wide variety of subjects and grade levels in multi-grade settings<p> Has the desire to be surrounded by nature<p> Has the ability to work well with First Nations communities<p> Is comfortable with basic amenities <p> Has adequate transportation that would be appropriate for gravel highways/roadsAnahim Lake is situated approximately 300 kilometers west of Williams Lake and offers basic amenities. Williams offers full amenities. Subsidized housing is available within walking distance to the school.
