*JOB PURPOSE: *The Kitaskinaw School Cook will help lead the day-to-day operations within the Kitaskinaw School kitchen. The cook will ensure that nutritious and healthy meals are prepared and served to the Kitaskinaw School Students. They ensure that all safety measures are met to the Canada Food and Safety Standards by implementing and maintaining health and safety standards.
Duties will include:
· Assist with the preparation, cooking, and presentation of meals.
· Give clear direction to Kitchen Assistants on how to help prepare meals and sanitize cooking surfaces
· Help Kitchen Coordinator with ordering food and kitchen supplies according to the Kitaskinaw School Budget.
· Support Kitchen Coordinator with the estimate of labour and food costs and modify menu?s to stay within budget.
· Check orders received for quantity and quality of product.
· Wash, peel, and cut vegetables, clean and cut meats, fish, poultry, clean and sanitize kitchen equipment and cooking utensils.
· Assist Head Cook with preparation, seasoning, and cooking foods such as: soups, salads, meat, fish, gravies, vegetables, desserts, sauces, casseroles, pastries etc.
· Ensure the food products are ready to serve at the scheduled times for all meals.
· Ensure the quality of raw and cooked food products are ready to serve at the scheduled meals for Kitaskinaw School students.
· Ensure that sanitation and occupational safety standards are maintained.
· Assists Kitchen Coordinator with maintaining records for kitchen inventory/equipment.
· Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
*REQUIREMENTS:*
· Submit a clear Criminal Record Check/Intervention Record Check with cover letter and resume; upon starting employment on the Nation the successful candidate shall sign the Confidentiality Agreement and Code of Ethics.
· Knowledge and skill of cleaning equipment, products, techniques and standards
· Knowledge and skill of kitchen equipment, products and cooking techniques.
· Flexibility and good health and stamina.
· Demonstrated ability to work as a team member and independently when need be.
· High level of professionalism and maintains students and Kitaskinaw School?s confidentiality.
· Able to stand for long periods.
· Strong interpersonal skills and excellent communication skills.
*WORKING CONDITIONS: *
The Kitaskinaw Kitchen Assistant will be required to work from Monday to Friday, with an 8-hour shift in accordance to the ECN Policy & Procedure Manual ? Section D
Job Type: Full-time
Salary: $45,512.00-$51,251.00 per hour
