Job details
Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate. or equivalent experience. Work setting: In shop. Relocation costs not covered by employer. Machine set-up. Tasks: Compute dimensions and tolerances and set up machine tools. Compute dimensions, sizes, shapes and tolerances of workpieces . Inspect final products. Set up machine tools such as lathes, milling machines and grinders. Instruct apprentices. Verify machined parts for conformance to specifications using precision measuring instruments. Program CNC machine tools. Read and interpret blueprints, maps, drawings and specifications. Lay out, shape and assemble patterns of metal, wood, plastic and other materials from blueprints, models or templates. Position, secure, measure and work metal stock or castings to lay out for machining. Set up and operate conventional and computer controlled machine tools. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Tool and Die Maker Trade Certification. Mould Maker Trade Certification. Patternmaker Trade Certification. Tool and Die Maker Red Seal Certificate. Computer and technology knowledge: Mastercam CAD/CAM. AutoCAD. Patternmaking experience: Master patterns. Metal patternmaking. Wood patternmaking. Tool and die fabrication experience: Jigs and fixtures. Type of industry experience: Custom machining. Security and safety: Criminal record check. Drug test. Transportation/travel information: Own transportation. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Fast-paced environment. Handling heavy loads. Manual dexterity. Attention to detail.
