The successful candidate has significant experience in personal injury litigation (at least 3-5 years). They take initiative, are organized, hard-working, entrepreneurial minded and are encouraged and supported in building their own practice. The successful candidate will also receive a competitive compensation package including health benefits and growth opportunities. Pay is commensurate with experience.
The ideal candidate will have the following responsibilities and duties:
* Oversees all aspects of accident benefit claims
* Handle files of varying complexities from intake to resolution
* Work cooperatively within a team structure
* Identify files ready for settlement and prepare for settlement conferences
* Reviews, analyzes, and assesses all incoming medical and other productions/correspondence
* Effectively track limitations and deadlines
* Communicating with team members and clients to ensure files are up to date
* Responsible for ongoing review and management of files, assigning tasks, with assistance from lawyers and legal assistants
* Preparing for and attending case conference, examinations under oath, motions, mediations, hearings, etc.
* Drafting settlement proposals
* Building and maintaining positive and professional working relationships with current and prospective clients
* Adhere to all applicable regulations/requirements and timelines/deadlines as required by the Law Society of Ontario and our clients
* Support and contribute to all TSF Law initiatives to create a positive work culture
* Share knowledge, provide/receive on-going coaching and support to/from your colleagues and administrative team
* Other duties as assigned
The ideal candidate has and can demonstrate the following experience, skills and characteristics:
* A paralegal with 3-5 years practice within personal injury (accident benefits and tort as plaintiff or defence) with a demonstrated ability to resolve files
* Confident and dependable, with strong initiative
* Strong attention to detail
* Ability to be a pragmatic problem solver
* Exudes a positive attitude
* Teachable and able to comply with all firm policies and procedures
* An entrepreneurial spirit/mindset
* Very strong knowledge of LAT Rules & Procedures
* Experienced in handling files from beginning to end
* Experience with resolving claims
* Work with minimal instruction or supervision
* Ability to work within tight timelines to meet deadlines, reassessing priorities as needed
* Self-starter with excellent critical thinking skills
* Proactive and takes initiative in anticipation of the next steps on a file
* Strong time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks
* Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy
* Ability to work both independently and in a team
* Willing to learn new material and technology
* Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to be resourceful
