Tasks: Assess the current status of a given area for sustainable forest management. Conduct forest inventory cruises, surveys and field measurement. Conduct ongoing inspections to ensure the development of good quality forest crops. Display spatial data using Geographical Information Systems (GIS). Help forest managers in planning access routes and forest roads. Measure the density of crop species and the amount of competition present to determine the need for tending operations. Monitor the effectiveness of silvicultural practices. Supervise forest inventory cruises, surveys and field measurement. Supervise technical functions in silvicultural operation. Supervise the construction of access routes and forest roads. Use photogrammetric and mapping techniques. Enforce environmental, fire safety and accident prevention regulation. Develop and maintain computer databases. Provide technical support to forestry research. Operate snowmobiles. Operate all-terrain vehicles (ATV). Technical experience: Airphoto interpretation.
