JOB DESCRIPTIONAtlantic Towing Limited is seeking a Captain for their Harbour and Coastal Fleet.RESPONSIBILITIESThe implementation of Atlantic Towing Limited Policies and Management System requirements on board and motivation of the crew in the observance of the safety and environmental protection policyObserving that the navigation of the vessel and day-to-day conduct of shipboard operations are carried out in a safe, environmentally sound and efficient manner in accordance with applicable standards and regulations, good seamanship practices and company policies and proceduresEnsuring that a planned maintenance program is implemented and executed so that the vessel and her equipment are maintained in a proper condition, in accordance with applicable laws and regulations, industry practices, and additional requirements of Atlantic Towing LimitedMonitoring the vessel's certification status and maintain an up-to-date file of the vessel's certificatesReporting accidents/incidents, hazardous situations, and nonconformitiesEnsuring that the vessel's crew and emergency equipment are maintained in a high state of readiness to respond effectively to potential emergency situationsMuster lists developed and posted and regular emergency drills conducted to identify areas where improvements can be madeImplementation of personnel-related procedures and arrangements, including proper sign-on of all crew, maintenance of the Articles of Agreement, verifying that all crew carry updated certificates of competency, training and medical fitness, performance appraisals, identification of training needs and provision of onboard training, crew discipline, etc.Where applicable, responsible for the implementation of the Vessel Security Plan, including crew training and familiarization, maintenance of relevant records, inspection and testing of security equipment and observance of security procedures and arrangementsContribute to ATL's Safety culture by:Understand and comply with various safety processes within the Safety Management SystemPossess the skills to perform job related tasks and apply safe practices while performing physical tasksHave a thorough understanding of precautions and procedures related to the Safety Management SystemHave thorough understanding of pollution regulations and the company's objectives regarding environmental protectionQUALIFICATIONSMaster 500 GT, Near Coastal Certificate of Competency that complies with Flag State requirements for trading area and STCW endorsementGMDSS - ROCTransport Canada Marine MedicalMarine Basic or Advanced First Aid and CPRMarine Emergency Duties (including MED Refreshers) considered an assetABOUT USFounded in 1882, J.D.
