Education: Registered Apprenticeship certificate. or equivalent experience. Work setting: Custom cabinet shop. Millwork shop. Tasks: Operate woodworking machines, such as power saws, jointers, mortisers and shapers, to cut, shape and form parts and components. Shape surfaces or edges of wood workpieces, using hand tools, such as planes, chisels, or wood files.. Instruct apprentices. Study plans, specifications or drawings of articles to be made. Operate CADD and other computer software systems. Trim joints and fit parts and subassemblies together to form complete unit and reinforce joints. Sand wooden surfaces and apply veneer, stain or polish to finished products; prepare and apply laminated plastics. Maintain clean and safe work environment. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Joiner (Cabinetmaker) Trade Certification. First Aid Certificate. Cabinetmaker Red Seal Certificate. Area of specialization: Cabinets. Built-in units. Doors and door frames. Millwork. Kitchen cabinets and vanities. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Fast-paced environment. Attention to detail. Own tools/equipment: Tools.
