*CHEEMA* Cheema Aquatic Club (www.cheema.ca) is a not-for-profit paddling club located on Lake Thomas in Waverley, Nova Scotia. We are committed to fostering a love of physical activity for all members no matter their age. We have a large facility with craft rooms, open spaces and acres of land adjacent to a park. Our programs are not typical childcare in that they are based on an outside, physically active curriculum. Activities will include outdoor games, paddling (safe, stable, seasonal), fun nature activities, crafts, indoor games, etc. *ARE YOU AN AFTERSCHOOL LEADER? * You may be if you are . . . - a role model and recognize the impact you have on the development of elementary aged school children; - are passionate about mental, spiritual and emotional well-being in addition to the physical aspects of a childs? growth and development; - recognize that teamwork makes the dream work; - are curious, a passionate learner and are committed to your own growth and skill development; - looking for a few hours a day to get out of the house; - and finally, you recognize the impact of and need to foster a strong sense of community at our club. *RESPONSIBILITIES *(including, but not limited to): · Assist in the coordination and execution of the daily program starting at 1:00 with snack prep, activity prep and then meeting the kids at the bus. · Provide a safe, respectful and fun atmosphere for all participants. · Assist with weekly plans, tracking attendance and providing input when necessary. · Assist in organizing activities. · Help deliver special events and activities as needed. · Be a role-model for young children. · Cooperate and collaborate with other staff, working in a team environment. · Identify, report, and help with general facility maintenance. · Ensure compliance with all delivery policies designed to provide a safe and positive experience for our children. · Duties include daily program execution, child supervision, special events, daily cleaning and other tasks where and when needed. · Collaboration with staff, and parents. · Perform other duties as needed. *SKILLS and QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED* · Experience working with children in a sport or recreation environment, a daycare facility, school, camp, or similar experiences. · Nurturing, caring, kindness competencies associated with caring for children aged 5-6. · Personality traits such as communicative, sociable, confident working with groups, and taking initiative are strong assets. · Ability to help deliver plans in a fast-paced environment with multiple distractions. · Willing to take direction from our program director, learn and become a higher-level leader yourself. · ECE or similar training or background would be considered an asset. · Ability to work independently · Hold a Valid Nova Scotia Driver?s License · Current First Aid & CPR · Criminal Background and Vulnerable Sector Check (required prior to offer of employment, at prospective employee?s cost *JOB TYPE*: Seasonal Part-Time ?
